FeedDemon has supported secure RSS feeds since the very first release, but previous versions asked for each feed’s credentials every time you started FeedDemon – a major pain when you had a lot of password-protected subscriptions.
FeedDemon 1.6 RC1 changes this by providing its own authentication dialog which appears when you subscribe to a secure feed, and this dialog never appears again unless your login is no longer valid. Plus, you can manage all of your feed passwords from a single screen – just click the new “Passwords” button in FeedDemon’s options.
These changes should make it much easier to use FeedDemon with secure feeds.
How is the password saved by FD? Plain text, or in some obfuscated format?
It’s obfuscated.
The program just gets better and better. Didn’t think anyone remembered “Basil Fawlty” anymore. :) Thanks!
Thanks for the compliment :) I’ve been a Fawlty fan for years – I even named two of my cartoon characters “Basil” and “Sibyl” in honor of the show (see http://www.bradsoft.com/dexter/ ).
