  1. I’m sure this has been covered once or twice already, but perhaps you can enlighten us once and for all: why (do you think) does it appear that Macromedia has no interest in porting HomeSite to Mac OS X? For that matter, why won’t you port TopStyle, either? I’ve seen something about you having originally written them in Borland or something, but for us non-technically minded, please explain why that matters. Thanks!

  2. I can’t comment on Macromedia’s motives, but in my case I’ve found it hard enough just to support one OS :) I actually toyed with the idea of creating Mac software (and have an iMac to prove it), but in the end decided that I just wouldn’t be able to handle the extra workload.
I have to admit, though, that these days I’m starting to wish I developed for OS X. Even though Microsoft has greatly improved the usability of their software, IMO Apple still does better in this department.

  3. Yeah, I’m sure it’s a nightmare making your stuff work on multiple OSes. Still, being a recent PC-to-Mac convert, I can’t tell you how much I miss using your software. BBEdit blows, to put it bluntly, and I bought VirtualPC just to keep your stuff running. Anyway, if you ever made your editor available for OS X, you’d be an unspoken hero in many a web developer’s eyes all over again. Just something to consider…besides, why let Macromedia (potentially) have all the fun?

  4. Dino is so right… I’ve worked with a lots of professional softwares on many platforms. While TopStyle still hasn’t some geek features of others editors which can better handle scripting languages, it is still the best I ever used in 8 years I’m in web business!

  5. I just want to say that Homesite was awesome and still is the best HTML editor around. I like its emphasis on code editing rather than WYSIWYG and its light memory footprint. I try to find other code editors out there, but I still find myself coming back to Homesite. Thanks for making an awesome piece of software!

  6. To bad I also switched to the MAc all is fine but the editors are not so great as homesite. after years working with homesite my fingers still have shortcuts not working anymore ;)
